FAQs

  • Pre-apprenticeship (Year 1 – Senior year of high school) Sept. through May
  • Apprenticeship (Year 2) beginning full time post-graduation
  • Knowledge of general automotive maintenance and required skills
  • Professional interpersonal relationships
  • Living out the HAT mission, vision and values

The program costs nothing to the student.

The program will (not confirmed completely) provide a starter tool kit for each student accepted to the program.

The first year of the program will be spent more on classroom time (approximately 500 hours), but each segment will include a hands-on shop activity. Then, beginning in Year 2, the apprentice will be assigned a mentor in one of the 4 HAT shops to work with as they continue to build their skillset.

The goal of Tech Pathways is to train students with the required skills to begin working in the automotive industry as certified technicians. Once the program is completed students will have the opportunity to become full-time employees of HAT. Here at HAT, we have competitive pay and many opportunities for increases.

During the first year of the program (their senior year of high school), students will be spending 2-3 hours a day either in the classroom or shop working with Tech Pathways. Most high schools will be giving credit for the time spent in the program.

The students will complete the program with two certifications: state inspection and emissions testing as well as ASE certification for general duty and light maintenance.
