Technician Shadow Days at Tech Pathways
Have you ever wondered what it’s really like to work as an automotive technician? Hanover Auto Team’s Technician Shadow Days allow high school juniors to step inside a professional automotive service department and experience the career firsthand.
From October through February, students can spend a morning alongside one of our experienced mentor technicians and current-year apprentices. You will gain valuable insight into the daily responsibilities, skills, and teamwork that keep our service departments running. No matter where you are in planning your career journey, this hands-on experience can help you decide whether becoming a technician is the right path for you.
What to Expect During Your Shadow Day
Shadow Days take place every Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and are designed to provide a realistic look at life in a dealership service department.
During your visit, you’ll have the opportunity to
- Observe an experienced technician throughout their workday
- Learn about the tools, technology, and equipment used in today’s service departments
- See how technicians diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicles
- Gain insight into the teamwork and communication required in a professional shop
- Ask questions about training, certifications, and career opportunities in the automotive industry
Our goal is to provide an informative, interactive, welcoming experience that helps students better understand the profession and the many opportunities available within the automotive service industry.
Personalized Learning Experience
To ensure every student receives individual attention, only one student is scheduled per Shadow Day session. This one-on-one approach allows you to interact directly with your mentor technician, ask questions throughout the morning, and get a more meaningful look at the profession. SO COME READY TO WORK!
Your service department location will be assigned once your visit has been scheduled.

Technician Shadow Days are open to high school juniors who are interested in learning more about careers in automotive service. Whether you’re already enrolled in an automotive program or exploring potential career paths, this experience is a great way to gain real-world exposure.

Location: Assigned upon confirmation but at one of the local Hanover Auto Team service locations
